It was the first lockdown. Sitting at the kitchen table with the news playing in the background, the reporter was talking about a “wave.” In those uncertain times. I took the journalist at his word and created “The First Wave.” Black sand for uncertainty, turquoise blue for hope and light. It was my grandfather who, upon seeing it, was the first to believe in me and encouraged me to complete the rest of the series. I ended up giving it to him. Today, this pastel still takes pride of place in his living room, near his sofa, and it reminds me every time that even though we go through moments of uncertainty, sadness, and fear, they always eventually pass. So let’s let the wave pass!
